Second Trip to Kenya

On September 1st, Sven is travelling to Kenya again. Together with Stefan Schneider (To Rococo Rot, Mapstation) he will go to Mukunguni Village, where he has already been in 2009.

Stefan and Sven are recording a new album with Mbui, Mwatela, Mbutch and all the other musicians from Mukunguni.

Unfortunately Agnieszka won´t join them this time. Nevertheless Sven and Stefan will continue the barabara.fm-blog that Agnieszka created in 2009.

The “Preis Der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik” honors “The Kenya Sessions”. Sven Kacirek, Ogoya Nengo, Owino Koyo and all the other Kenyan Musicians, Pingipung and the Goethe-Institute Nairobi are very proud to be nominated for the Record Critics Award 2011.

The Kenya Sessions Album Release Party

We celebrate the Release of the Kenya Sessions Album, which came out on the Pingipung Label today. You can buy the album or the mp3 version at the Pingipung-Site, on iTunes, Amazon, on the Klicktrack download shop, Soulseduction, Boomkat or many other online music stores. The Party takes place at the Frappant Art Network on saturday, the 26th of February. Sven will play a live set, Agnieszka will show selected pictures from the journey as well as the brand new music videos. New York Concerts with Ogoya and Olith

The New York based music festival E se in Manhatten invited Sven to play there in December. Sven planned to perform there with Ogoya Nengo and Olith Ratego.
After weeks of collecting documents and after endless phone calls with the USEmbassy in Nairobi, the Embassy didn’t give a visa to Olith and Ogoya !
The whole festival programm has to be changed… We all were quite disappointed, but finally Sven gave 2 great concerts, one solo and one with the awesome saxophonist Jason Candler and drummer legend Kenny Wollesen.
We will post some videos soon.

Rat für Nachhaltige Entwicklung awards the barabara.fm project

On Septmeber 28 the German “Rat für Nachhaltige Entwicklung” awarded a price to the barabara.fm-project in the presence of Bundeskanzler Angela Merkel.

Album Overview III

The album is finished. It is not mastered yet but I finally drew up 13 different tracks that hopefully fit together pretty well. The album won t come out before October 2010 but the last days I have posted extracts of all 13 tracks to give you a better overview of the result. Furthermore you can listen to some extracts of the original field recordings I used for the tracks.
